It’s finally here! Last night, the famous jam band Phish released their long awaited summer tour dates. Fans were eager to get the dates to plan their summer tour schedules. All across the web, rumors were buzzing about possible dates for months.

Actually, the rumored dates I had previously posted weren’t too far off.

The summer concert series will kick off on June 11 in Chicago and will wrap up August 18 at Jones Beach, NY. The tour has 29 stops along its journey, all of which won’t let down fans. If you’re looking for some advance ticket sales, check out Music Today. (That will go on until March 26 at midnight.)

This announcement of their summer tour also comes with a secondary announcement. They will now have their own 3D movie, called Phish 3D. The movie will consist of footage shot during Phish’s Festival 8, a 3 day festival that happened over this past Halloween and covered numerous Rolling Stones songs. It will be released some time this April. Visit the website to sign up for more information as it becomes available.

Well, I’d say Phish fans are certainly getting their jollies this month. Now, let’s see how fast those tickets sell out!

UPDATE 3/25/10: An official trailer for Phish 3D has just been released. Check it:

Tickets for the 14th annual All Good Music Festival went on sale at 12 noon today. They will sell at tiered prices, meaning that when the first and cheapest round of tickets sell out, the next tier, which is more expensive, will go on sale.

For those of you who don’t know about the fest, some explanation in necessary. The now 4 day music festival takes place each summer in Masontown, West Virginia. The small town welcomes music lovers from all over the country to its wide expanse of farm land.

A fishbowl view of the music mountain.

As you pull into the beautiful mountain top, you park your car and unload all your stuff. One of the best aspects of this festival is that you get to camp out right on the land the performers are playing on. Check out the great mountain view, set up your tent, cook yourself a burger on your portable grill, crack open a beer, then head to the main stage to catch a show.

From most areas around the main stage area, the walk from campsite to music is only 2-5 minutes. All along the way, there are delicious and often healthy options for food if you opted not to bring your own. There are also many bathroom facilities on the mountain.

And the whole time you’re there camping, act after act performs on the festival’s stages. It’s really a great experience for music lovers.

The lineup this year hasn’t been fully released yet, but here’s who signed on so far:

  • Furthur featuring Phil Lesh and Bob Weir
  • Widepsread Panic
  • Umphrey’s McGee
  • Yonder Mountain String Band
  • Dark Star Orchestra
  • George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic
  • Lotus
  • Femi Kuti and the Positive Force
  • Railroad Earth
  • Rebelution
  • The New Deal
  • Perpetual Groove
  • Cornmeal
  • Fox Knox Five
  • The Macpodz

Keep checking the festival’s lineup page for more artist updates.

The first round of tickets for a three day pass costs $129. For a four day pass, first round prices start out at $144. For tickets, visit the All Good ticket page.

(3/7/10) UPDATE: It has just been announced that a few more acts have been added to the list of performers — Keller Williams & The Added Bonus, Bassnectar, Garage A Trois, The Travelin’ McCourys, Dr. Didg, and the Lee Boys.

Even though it’s still cold and we’re in winter hibernation mode, there are plenty of signs that spring and summer are right around the corner: when I wake up, I hear birds chirping. Also, the temperature is slowly starting to rise ever so slightly. But the number one thing that reminds me warm weather is near is that summer concert tour dates are being released!

One of America’s highest grossing musicians (in ticket sales, that is) is Jimmy Buffett. For years, it’s been the same old thing with him — fans run to their computers and dial in on their phones the first second that tickets are released, scrambling to get a chance to see one of their favorite stars perform during the summer. Tickets for one show are often sold out in less than five minutes.

This year, his tour will be called the Under the Big Top Tour and it will kick off in Tampa, Florida this April. I’m sure one of the main focuses of this tour will be Buffett’s latest cd release Buffett Hotel, which came out in December of last year. Of course, many tradition Buffett tunes will make their way to his setlists, too.

Buffett concerts are always a wild party, especially in the parking lot before the show. People gather round and drink like fools while they sing songs, play games, and show off their island attire. Here are a few interesting things I’ve seen in a Buffett show parking lot: an entire pirate ship, a lifeguard stand (complete with sand), a kiddy pool, men in grass skirts, pirates with live parrots on their shoulders, a tiki bar, and endless amounts of mixing, grinding, and swirling drink concocters.

There are rumors circulating around the internet that this will be Buffett’s last tour. There is no evidence to back it up yet.
