He’s a crooner and a swooner…a folk lullaby spooner.
That’s right, James Taylor is back in action. Not without the help of Carole King, of course. The two have just recently announced that they will begin a United States tour, starting in Portland, Oregon on May 7. The tour will kick off in Australia earlier this year, then head to the U.S.
King and Taylor started out playing their music together, as she was in his band when he started touring. She was also a first class song writer, lending her writing abilities to many songs. Eventually, King played a few songs on Taylor’s albums until he encouraged her to set out on her own and explore her own musical aspirations.
The tour will reunite other former members of the band as well, including guitarist Danny Kortchmar, drummer Russ Kunkel, and bassist Lee Sklar.
In an article by the Associated Press, Taylor said he wanted King and himself to remain on stage throughout all the performances on the new tour. “I think we’ll do two sets, both of us will be on stage the whole time, either singing backup for each or playing behind the other. We’ll sort of skip back and forth, do a song of hers, a song of mine, but we’ll stay on the stage,” he said.
Ticket presales for many of the dates on the tour will begin this Saturday, the 16th, at 10:00 a.m. You can find tickets by visiting ticketmaster.
